Sports includes all forms of competitive physical activity or games which, through casual or aim to use, improve physical ability. It is also the source of entertainment.

The sport has been transformed into our daily lives. It plays a vital role in modern contemporary society. It is an integral part of life essential for the physical and mental well-being of Individuals.

Importance of sports: 


Sports play a great role in our life as it keeps us healthy, wealthy and active. We can have a healthy mind only when we have a healthy body.

It is a way of entertainment to the participants. Outdoor sports such as football, cricket, volleyball, hockey, running, etc.

helps in improving physical health and mental fitness. However, some indoor games and sports like brain games, chess, Sudoku, etc. improves metal power and concentration level.

Sports have nice scope for the sportspersons nationally as well as internationally. In some countries, sports and games activities are arranged in the celebration n of some events or festival for e.g.

Olympic Games are organized to pay honor to the Olympics of ancient Greece. Sports are really an important activity for everyone especially for kids and youths as it keeps body healthy and fit.

  • Badminton
  • Baseball and Softball
  • Basketball
  • Beach Volleyball
  • Boxing
  • Climbing
  • Archery
  • Canoe/kayak etc.

Benefits of sports: 


  • Sports teach teamwork:

Fighting for a common goal of players and coaches teaches you how to build teamwork and effectively communicate to solve problems.

  • Physical health:

Sports can help you reach your fitness goal and maintain a healthy weight.

  • Sports boost self-esteem:

Watching your hard work pay off and achieving your goals develops self-confidence. Achieving sports encourage you to achieve other goals you set.

  • Reduce pressure and stress:

Exercising is a natural way to loosen up and let go of stress. When you feel under pressure or stressed, call up a teammate, head to the gym to talk and play it out.

Traditional sports in India: 


Hunting, swimming, boating, and boxing were also some of the major sports play. And nurtured in ancient times.

  • Yoga:

Yoga was an integral part of ancient Indian culture. Yoga was practiced by almost every school thought to achieve spiritual and mental peace.

Games like chess, snakes and ladders, playing cards, polo and the martial arts of judo and karate had originated in ancient India.

  • Kho-kho:

Kho-Kho is also the traditional sport of India.

  • Kabaddi:

Kabaddi is one of the most popular sports in India played by the people in villages as well as in small towns.

  • Kushti:

Kushti the Indian wrestling is the best sports to play and maintain the physic. A heavy diet and strict discipline are to be maintained by wresting.

  • Camel race:

Camel racing in Pushkar is one of the major attritions for tourist in Rajasthan.

  • Archery:

Archery is one of the most ancient sports originated in India. This is the favorite pastime or sports of the people of Manipur.

  • Martial Arts:

Martial art is a part of India’s ancient culture. This famous art is from Kerala. India martial art is a gift to the modern world.
